Beautifully Unbroken crowning achievement
Newly crowned Miss Shiner, Callie Sevcik, wears her crown with dignity and grace. As her eyes connect with the crowd, her smile radiates the joy in representing her city.
Callie Sevcik’s true elegance comes from within. She is far more than bright eyes and a joyful smile. Her strength, intelligence, and kindness are what truly define her.
“Beautifully Unbroken,” a charity dedicated to supporting grieving families coping with pregnancy or child loss, was created by Sevcik in memory of her sister Trista, who tragically passed away at the age of two.
“Bringing hope to grieving families has been my top priority since starting ‘Beautifully Unbroken,’” shared Sevcik.
“I pray that each box truly helps the family that opens it, so they know they are never alone on their journey.”
Sevcik’s inspiration came from her own experience at age six. While her parents were understandably focused on her younger sister’s trauma, there were limited hospital resources available to support their family.
“Entering my freshman year, I told my mom that I felt the need to use my experience to let others know they weren’t alone, especially siblings who had lost someone,” Sevcik explained.
With the support of her parents, Sevcik created a Facebook page to share her story and desire to help those grieving loss. It has been an effective plan.
Items are purchased off an Amazon list then shipped to the Sevcik home and the family puts in the hours to prepare the boxes.
The “Beautifully Unbroken” care packages include items such as a support book, tissues, and charms (wings/heart). Gift boxes hold a teddy bear and blanket for the siblings.
These packages are distributed with the help of Brittany (Pohler) Caputo, in memory of her late father, Harvey Pohler Sr., as well as other caring nurses at St. David’s Hospital and Dell Children’s Hospital in Austin.
Donations have allowed the family to already distribute 42 care packages and 40 gift boxes as well as 40 hygiene care packages filled with basic necessities for parents.
As support for “Beautifully Unbroken” grows, Sevcik plans to partner with a company to manufacture white gowns for infants who are stillborn.
Additionally, she intends to write a sibling support book to include in the care packages.
Sevcik, who is actively involved in various extracurricular activities including volleyball, basketball, softball, FCA, NHS (where she serves as Treasurer), varsity cheerleading, FFA President, Stock Show Queen, and Student Council, also runs a school-based floral business called “Bunches of Beauties,” which creates floral arrangements for local purchase and delivery.
“I’ll always be an active advocate and a part of Beautifully Unbroken and as I go to college next year, my sisters, Harlee and Ava, will be playing a bigger role,” shared Sevcik.
“I’ll come home as much as I am able to help fill the boxes and then deliver them to hospitals.”
Donations can be made through an Amazon link provided by the organization.
Donors can include special notes in their Amazon cart, and Sevcik ensures that a handwritten card with a personal message is included in each box.
Anonymity is also respected for those who prefer it.
“Beautifully Unbroken” continues to spread hope and support to grieving families, ensuring they are not alone in their journey as Callie Sevcik’s own journey into adulthood begins.
