Elsie Kurtz

Elsie M. Kurtz, 85, of Shiner, passed away peacefully into God’s care on Sunday, July 21, 2024.
She was born September 21, 1938 in Hallettsville, to Louis B. and Rosie (Janak) Nevlud.
She was a member of Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church. Elsie married Lawrence Kurtz and for the next 66 years, was the supportive wife at home as Lawrence worked many hours as a humble public servant with EMS. She loved polka music, shopping at Dillard’s and enjoyed her coffee groups at Snowflake Donuts and Fridays.
Survivors include her husband, Lawrence Kurtz of Shiner; two daughters, Linda Wick (Lawrence) of Victoria and Diane Angott (Jim) of Marble Falls; one son Ronnie Kurtz of Victoria; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Spann of Shiner and Rosalie Phillips (Emmitt) of Victoria; and one brother, Alois Nevlud (Virginia) of Shiner.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert Nevlud; and brother-in-law, Louis Spann.
A rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. with Funeral Mass at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 24 at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church. 
Burial will follow at Shiner Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to Shiner Catholic School or Lavaca County EMS Service or Donor’s Choice.
