Mildred Joan (Treptow) Cole

Mildred Joan (Treptow) Cole of Hallettsville, age 79, passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2024.  
She was born Sept. 9, 1944, Hallettsville to William and Helen Treptow in Hallettsville.  She was married to Russell Cole who passed away in 2018.
Mildred attended Hallettsville High School from first grade through graduation.  She then attended Victoria Jr. College and proceeded on to earning her Bachelor of Science from South Texas State Teachers College in San Marcos.  
After graduating, Mildred secured her first teaching position in Victoria.  After relocating to Houston, Mildred began a long and rewarding teaching career. Many elementary students and several schools made up Mildred’s career of thirty-three years.  She was the beloved of her students and fellow faculty members.
Mildred married Russell Cole while living in Houston.  They enjoyed a long and happy marriage. After retiring from teaching, Mildred enjoyed fishing, traveling throughout Texas, hunting, and spending time at the little getaway in Sublime for many years.
After her husband passed, a few years later Mildred moved to Hallettsville where she quickly made new friends in her neighborhood and reconnected with old friends, and had many good times with her family here in Hallettsville.  She was a member of God’s Worship Center and was loved by so many fellow churchmates.  
Mildred is survived by her siblings, Bernice Basolo of McAlester Okla., JoAnn Connelly of Hallettsville, Bill Treptow of Hallettsville, Brenda Bomar of Hallettsville; brother-in-law, Bob Basolo of McAlester Okla.; sister-in-law, Liz Treptow of Hallettsville, and brother-in-law, James Bomar of Hallettsville; several nieces and nephews.
Mildred was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Russell; her brother-in-law Tom Connelly, and her parents.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff and doctors at DeTar Hospital in Victoria, and the Harbor Hospice team.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. and memorial service will follow at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 25 at God’s Worship Center, 407 S. Dowling St., in Hallettsville 77964. 
Memorials may be made to God’s Worship Center, or a charity of donor’s choice.
