Ronnie Vancura
Ronald “Ronnie” Wayne Vancura, 75, of Shiner, entered into eternal rest on Monday, December 30, 2024, at his home, in the care of loved ones.
Ronnie was born on May 28, 1949, in Shiner, to Adolph and Tillie Blaschke Vancura. He was the only child of this union. Ronnie was a graduate of St. Paul High School and soon after graduation enlisted into the United States Army-Reserves. Ronnie married his childhood friend, Claudia Beal on February 28, 1970. Together they had six children that were raised in Shiner.
Ronnie worked several years at the Highway Department and then managed the American Legion Hall in Shiner. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus 3rd degree.
Throughout Ronnie’s life he enjoyed working on cars and collecting coins. He enjoyed listening and sharing his love of music with his family and friends. He was a talented artist and loved to draw and create unique designs. He participated in chili cook-offs with his friends.
Ronnie and his wife enjoyed taking drives out in the country together. At home, Ronnie was an avid watcher of Fox News. But, most of all he looked forward to spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include four children, Dawn Morkovsky (Robert) of Shiner, Becky Kubecka (Grant) of Katy, Marty Vancura (Joni) of Shiner and Jessica Wick (Kyle) of Shiner; grandchildren, Zachary Morkovsky, Laurie Riethman (Chad), Micah Morkovsky (Sasha), Preston Kubecka, Rylee Vancura, Lyla Kubecka, Tristan Wick, Wyatt Wick, and Merritt Wick; and five great-grandchildren, River, Ryder, and Reese Morkovsky, and Mae and Thomas Riethman.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Claudia Vancura; his parents, Adolph and Tillie Vancura; sons, Russell and Randy Vancura; grandson, Owen Morkovsky; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lawrence and Joyce Beal.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at the Shiner Funeral Home from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Prayers of the Holy Rosary will follow at 7 p.m.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, January 3, 2025, at Ss. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, with the Rev. Bryan Heyer serving as celebrant.
Interment will follow in the Shiner Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Zachary Morkovsky, Laurie Riethman, Micah Morkovsky, Preston Kubecka, Rylee Vancura and Tristan Wick.
Honorary pallbearers are Lyla Kubecka, Merritt Wick, Wyatt Wick, River Morkovsky, Ryder Morkovsky, Reese Morkovsky, Mae Riethman and Thomas Riethman.
Memorials may be given to the charity of one’s choice.
