Sarah Ann Sralik
Sarah Ann Sralik, beloved wife, mother, Nana, sister and aunt went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2024, at the age of 76.
Born Feb. 6, 1948, in Austin, she was the youngest daughter of the late Olin and Myrtle Teer.
Sarah grew up in Pflugerville. She graduated from Hutto High School and received a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas State College, San Marcos. She was passionate about educating young minds. During her 29-year teaching career she impacted the lives of many students.
In 1969, Sarah married the love of her life, Alfred. They spent the majority of their married life on their ranch at Mossy Grove where she became Al’s “dedicated ranch hand”. They enjoyed a full life together raising their two children, Linda and Kenneth, working side by side.
Al and Sarah’s love for each other was a shining beacon to the family. She was a Godly woman who loved the Lord. A member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, she served in the church council, Archives Commission, Chancel Commission and shared her faith by teaching Sunday School, VBS, First Communion classes and confirmation classes.
She was devoted to her family. She was a constant presence in her family’s life, supporting her children and grandchildren in all their sports and activities. When her children were active in 4-H she was a club leader and project leader.
Sarah enjoyed many interests: reading, genealogy, puzzles, collecting red birds, cooking and cards. Her greatest passion was her yard and pot plants. It was her “Happy Place”. She was an avid reader and loved her visits to the library. In retirement she read over 900 books.
Al and Sarah were inseparable after their retirement. They were by each others side, watching humming birds, cardinals and sunsets in the yard, mending fences, tending to cattle, and enjoying their family.
She was preceded in death by her parents and in-laws, Olin and Myrtle Teer and Julius and Ora Sralik, and grandson, Justin Wells.
Sarah is survived by her husband, Alfred; daughter, Linda Sralik Leopold of San Antonio; son, Kenneth and wife, Stacy Sralik of Jourdanton; granddaughters, Ashley Leopold, Nicole Peterson and husband, Kyle Peterson and Hailey Sralik; sisters, Lynette Hruzek and Oleen Covey, and nieces and nephews.
Visitation began at 5 p.m. and continued until 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10 at Kubena Funeral Home in Hallettsville.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 21 at Kubena Funeral Home. Rev. Herb Beyer Jr. and Rev Kenny Hodges officiated.
Pallbearers were Robert Covey, Harry Bubba Hruzek, David Hruzek, Harvey Pavliska, Klayton Pavliska and Kyle Peterson.
Burial followed at Salem Cemetery. Luncheon followed at Salem Baptist Church.
Memorials may be made to a charity of donor’s choice.
