Sharon Brewer Benton

Sharon Brewer Benton was born April 22, 1949 in Houston,
She was a happy child with an older brother, Raymond and younger sister, Fayline.
Sharon was married to James Collins in 1967. They were married for 18 years and had three children.
She married Matt Benton in 1987.
Sharon wore many hats during her life. She was a daughter, mother, wife and seamstress. 
In Aug 1992 she became a nurse. She was always a caretaker and found her calling in nursing. She worked in nursing homes, hospitals and finally the Flatonia Clinic for 15 years before she retired.
Sharon was happiest when outdoors tending her garden, plants or trimming trees. She loved spending time with her family.
She showed how to be tough when she fought breast cancer and won.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Tommie and Gladys Brewer;  her older brother, Raymond Brewer Sr., and her husband, Matt Benton.
She has three children, Kimberly Brown (Greg), Kerrie Ritchey (Chane) and Tommy Collins (Denise),  and three-step children, Chris Benton (Chrystal), Jacob Benton and Hannah Benton. She has 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
After a 7 week fight, she died peacefully May, 4 2024 surrounded by family.
A celebration of life will be held June 15, at 1 p.m. at the American Legion Hall in Flatonia.
