Virgie Barta

Virgie Katherine Barta, 76, of Shiner, passed away Monday, December 16, 2024 at her home, surrounded by her family.

 She was born January 7, 1948 in Gonzales to the late Oscar and Lillie (Hull) Shulak.

Virgie graduated from High School and entered the LVN nursing training at Shiner Hospital in 1966. She worked for Trinity Lutheran Home from 1967 until 1977. She married Dennis Barta in 1968 and they were blessed with four children, Connie, Tammy, Bridgette and Bernadette. Virgie eventually joined Dennis at Barta Insurance and she became a licensed agent. Virgie encountered hardship in 1987 with Dennis’s death. She eventually returned to nursing and in 1992 became a Home Health Nurse. Virgie never met a stranger and gave her all to the patients and families she worked with. May she rest in peace.

Survivors are her dearest love of 33 years, Fred Chumchal; daughters, Connie Komoll, Tammy Tatom, Bridgette Heiman and Bernadette Hodges; extended family, Faith Darilek, Hope Baron and Charity Kneifel; 12 grandchildren, Brittany Komoll, Justin Komoll, Taylor Tatom, Tyler Tatom, Ryan Tatom, Harley Petteys, Braydon Baker, Clayton Baker, Gracie Baker, Johanna Darilek, Nolan Darilek and Sierra Kneifel.

Preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Lillie Shulak; husband, Dennis Barta; brothers, Earl Malone and Jack Bertling.

Visitation 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, December 20, 2024 at Thiele-Cooper Funeral Home.

Funeral Service 2 p.m., Saturday, December 21, 2024 at Thiele-Cooper Funeral Home, with Pastor Chris Heinold and Joe Mesa officiating. Burial to follow at Shiner Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to Crown Hospice or the Shiner Lutheran Church.
