He was a veteran having served in the Texas National Guard. He married the love of his life, Evelyn Kremling and they spent the next 64 years working and playing together. Together they were the owners and operators of Hoffmann Drywall Company and helped construct many new homes.
Both Evelyn and Welgene were musically inclined and played in several bands including playing with the “family band”. They shared their “gift” of music in life and traveled to all the local nursing homes playing polkas on the accordion for the patients. They brought much joy and happiness where ever they went. Welgene took excellent care of his beloved Evelyn when her health declined and surprisingly God called Welgene home first. May he rest in peace.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Hoffmann; sister, Corine Stahl; brother, Gene Ray Hoffmann; sister-in-law, Dorothy Kremling; brothers-in-law, Luther Lorfing and Kenny Kremling; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Hoffmann, Pat Lorfing, Delores Heidaker and Dorothy Kremling (Kenny); brothers-in-law, Marvin Kremling and Eugene Heidaker.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church or Hospice of South Texas.
