8U All Stars lose to New Braunfels in District 31 Title Game
The Hallettsville 8U Little League All Stars fell to New Braunfels, 8-4, in La Vernia Saturday in a game that decided the Eastern Zone championship Saturday.
NB had held a 4-2 lead before distancing themselves with a fourrun third inning.
The locals were out-hit 11-7. Hallettsville scored two runs in the top of the first inning.
Caroline Halata singled with one out and moved up a base on Blakely Hanslik’s single. Halata scored on fielder’s choice by Molly Rainosek. Rainosek came across on a wild pitch.
Hallettsville did not score again until its last at bat.
Hanslik hit a one-out single and advanced on a Rainosek base knock. Rainosek eventually scored on a wild pitch.
Kerrigan Brown had two hits as did Hanslik Ariel Muehr added a single.
H’ville 7, Gonzales 3
The All Stars clinched the East Zone title with a 7-3 victory over Gonzales Friday.
The locals used two big innings - a three-run second and four-run fourth - to catapult them to the win.
Brya New singled and was chased home on a double by Caroline Halata. Halata scored on an infield out by Blakely Hanslik. Molly Rainosek ensued with a single and scored Kerrigan Brown.
Hallettsville collected 11 hits. Brown and Anniston Stephens has two apiece. Both of Brown’s hits were doubles Ariel Muehr, Brya New and Harper Mertz also hit safely.
Gonzales 7, H’ville 5
Gonzales defeated Hallettsville, 7-5, Thursday to force another game for the District 31 East Zone championship. Hallettsville produced 13 hits and stranded 7 and Gonzales had eight hits and left only two.
Molly Rainosek, Kerrigan Brown,Harper Mertz and Brie Rother all had two hits. Rother and Caroline Halata both doubled. Byra New, Ariel Muehr, Julia Meinkowsky and Anniston Stevens all singled.
