8U All Stars win first two games

The 8U Hallettsville softball All Stars won their first two games in the tournament being played in Yoakum.

The latest victory was a 4-1 verdict over Cuero Sunday.

Hallettsville tied the game at 1-all with a run in the second inning when Anniston Stephens led off with a base hit, moved to second on a single by Brie Rother and went to third when Julia Meinkowsky was hit by the pitch. Stephens eventually scored on a wild pitch.

The locals rallied for three runs on five hits in the third inning.

Caroline Halata and Blakley Hanslik led off with singles. Halata scored when Molly Rainosek grounded out to the first baseman and Hanslik on a passed ball. Three consecutive base hits by Kerrigan Brown, Whitley Mikes and Stephens scored the final two runs.

Hallettsville had nine hits. Hanslik, Brown and Stephens produced two apiece.

Hanslik pitched all four innings and ceded just two hits and struck out eight.

Hallettsville 14, Yoakum 1

Hallettsville scored runs by the bunches with 14 hits in a 14-1 victory over host Yoakum Saturday.

Molly Rainosek led the hit parade three in three at bats with three RBI and three runs scored. Blakley Hanslik, Caroline Halata and Whitley Mikes all had two apiece. Mikes collected four runs batted in. Also hitting safely were Kerrigan Brown, Harper Mertz, Ariel Muehr and Kinsley Gagne.
