Bishop High School football players honor coach
A large contingency of former Bishop High School football players turned out to honor their coach Bill Appelt on Saturday afternoon, May 18 at his place in Hallettsville. Appelt, 88, played football at Hallettsville High School in the mid-1950’s before playing for the Texas A&M Aggies and Coach Bear Bryant. After graduation, Bill went into the coaching profession and he coached for 16 years, including the late 1960’s where he enjoyed a wealth of success at Bishop High School. Former players of the Badgers attended the event and enjoyed sharing football stories among themselves as well as with their highly-esteemed coach.
