Brooks to make NFL debut this Sunday against the Super Bowl Champs
“You know, I’m excited. Just to be able to get back on the field and play the game that I love, it is truly a blessing to get back out there,” Brooks said on Monday.
Carolina running back Jonathon Brooks will make his NFL debut Sunday when the Panthers host Kansas City in a noon CST kickoff.
“I fully expect JB to make his debut against the Chiefs,” Carolina coach Dave Canales said. “Again, we have some practices to go through to make sure that we’re ready to go there.”
Brooks was a second round (46th overall) drafted choice out of Texas, has been recovering from a torn ACL while playing for the Longhorns a year ago.
He was eligible to play against the Giants in Munich, Germany, but the Panthers opted to keep him on the sidelines with the bye week coming up.
Brooks was the first running back to come off the board in April’s NFL draft.
Brooks rushed for 1,139 yards and averaged 6.1 yards per carry and scored 10 touchdowns for the Longhorns. He added 25 receptions for 286 yards and a score.
