Bulldogs win first playoff game in four years

The Yoakum Bulldogs opened their journey to Arlington this past Friday night in Hutto against the Trojans of Troy High School.

The Bulldogs were led offensively by Trae Cuellar who accounted for 414 total yards and five touchdowns, with three rushing and two passing touchdowns.

Yoakum receivers X’Zavier Barnett and Jamar Hopkins each had receiving touchdowns. Donovan Toussaint also scored twice on the ground.

The Bulldog defense was able to cause two turnovers, a fumble and interception, both made by Caysen Gamez. Ryder Harris and Colby Jendzrey were the leading tacklers with 13 for Harris and nine for Jendzrey.

The Bulldogs now carry a 7-4 record into the next round against the Fairfield Eagles who also have a record at 7-4 for the season.

The Bulldogs will travel to Temple Friday night with kickoff set for 7 p.m. at Wildcat Stadium.
