Local sports: Are you ready to become a Gridiron Guru?
So, do you dig your football? Is it something you’re not only excited to see starting again, but something you’re already setting time aside for come fall?
Because you wouldn’t miss your Comanches or Cardinals in all their Friday night splendor, and just as soon as those stadium lights dim, it’s full-on Saturday saturation with your favorite college teams.
Then, the professionals take the field for Sunday games, Monday Night Football, Thursday match-ups, and before you know it, we’re right back to Friday nights again.
If this pretty well sounds like how you’ll spend several weeks this fall, then we have a little something that’s right up your alley, especially if you don’t mind a little friendly competition with those from your hometown.
Who knows? I bet we could even find some random barnyard critter willing to offer some color commentary each week—maybe even talk a little smack—just to keep it lively.
Other than that, there’s not much to it, really. We provide you a list of games each week and you pick the game’s winner. We size it up once the scores are in and come back to do it all over again the next week, keeping a running tally on how everyone has done, which we’ll be reporting right here on our sports pages each week until our little game reaches its conclusion. What’s more, somebody stands to walk away with a handsome prize package, to boot.
To pull that off, we need a few brave souls to step forward as our players. We’re gaging interest in just such a feature with this write-up.
If this sounds like something you’d like to see in future editions of your hometown newspaper each week, let us know by emailing bobbyhorecka@gmail.com, or calling/texting him at (979) 236-5304.
If, however, you’re ready to roll now as one of the few, the proud— the Gazette’s Gridiron Gurus—Bobby will be more than happy to help you get set up for our first season.
Players’ photos, names and business listings appear with each week’s publication of the predictions/standings. As such, a small fee will also assessed each week. Just know it’s how we get those handsome prizes we mentioned. If we succeed in attracting your interest, we hope to launch with the start of the football season on Aug. 30.
Don’t delay. Reach out today!
