Abygail Tinajero came within 0.44 seconds of getting a medal at the UIL state track meet in Austin on Saturday.
She finished the 400-meter dash with a time of 59.83 to place fourth while the third-place finisher, Hailee Garmer of Roby, was clocked at 59.39.
