Moulton softball: Kittens sweep Leakey, play Slocum in regional final

Moulton swept Leakey 7-3 and 3-2 in the regional semifinals last week in Poteet.
The Kittens will continue their historical playoff run with a matchup against Slocum in the regional final.
Game one will be today at 6 p.m. Game two will be Saturday at 4 and game three, if needed, will follow game two. All games will be played in Mumford
Moulton 7, Leakey 3 (Game 1)
Early runs got the Kittens past Leakey 7-3 in the opening game on Friday.
Moulton scored two runs in the first inning and went up 5-0 after two frames. Leakey pulled within 5-3 after three squares before the Kittens scored on run in the fifth and sixth innings.
Kenzie Dvorak led Moulton at the plate, going 2-for-2 with one RBI; Addison Simper got a double, RBI and one run while Araceli Vasquez hit 1-for-3, double and scored one run.
Bethany Kram gave up three runs on seven hits with a walk and two strikeouts. Katie Richter led the defense with 10 putouts.

The Kittens scored three runs to start the third inning and it was enough to complete the sweep as they edged Leakey 3-2 Saturday afternoon.
Leakey pulled one back in the bottom of the inning and got within one at the end of the fifth frame.
Vasquez was 2-for-3 with one run to lead the Kittens at the plate.
Kram allowed two runs on five hits with a walk and two strikeouts.
Richter had five putouts in the field.
