Moulton softball: Slocum ends Kittens’ historical softball run

    The historical run of the Kittens softball team came to end Saturday in the regional-final series against Slocum in Mumford.
    The Kittens had little offense in game one, falling 15-1 before getting a little more in the second game but still coming up short 11-4.
    Moulton finishes with a 14-11 record.

    Slocum scored five runs in the bottom of the third and seven in the fourth to take the first game 15-1.
    Slocum led 3-0 after the first inning before the Kittens scored their lone run in the top of the third.
    The Kittens had six players with one hit, with Karsyn Blahuta going 1-for-2 and one run.
    Bethany Kram pitched four innings with 15 runs on 11 hits and three strikeouts.
    Katie Richeter made five putouts in the field.

    Slocum plated six runs in the sixth inning to key an 11-4 win in the second game.
    Moulton ended a scoreless game with one run in the fourth frame; Slocum scored three in the top of the fifth; the Kittens scored two to knot the game at 3-3.
    Slocum went up 9-3 after six innings and each team scored one run in the seventh inning.
    The Kittens got eight hits at the plate with Blahuta going 2-for-4, run and double while Kram went 2-for-3 with one run.
    Kram ceded 17 hits with one walk.
    In the field, Richter made seven putouts.
