Runners get first, second in varsity races at Rice

It was a good day for the Yoakum High School (YHS) Cross-Country Team Sept. 7 at Rice Consolidated meet with both varsities receiving a team medal.

VARSITY LADY BULLDOGS

The Lady Bulldogs won the varsity race with 18 points.

The Lady Bulldogs took the first two spots as Gracei Martinez was first in 13 minutes, 45 seconds and following was Ximena Miller in 13:50.

Angela Flores was fourth with 14:02 and behind her was Anaiah Thiele in 14:11.

Rounding out top 10 finishers for Yoakum was Dulce Lara who was No. 10 at 15:51.

Maddie Masey was No. 11 in 16:26.

VARSITY BULLDOGS

The Bulldogs scored 40 points for runner up.

Aiden Alvarez was second in 15:41. Clayton Hlavac was clocked at 16:54 for seventh place. Also in the top 10 were Trevor Moreno (ninth in 17:33) and Aiden Jimenez (No. 10 in 18:21).

Adrian Blakeney was No. 12 in 18:27; Dominic Novak was No. 15 in 18:50; Julian Espinoza was No. 18 in 19:14.

JUNIOR VARSITY GIRLS

KC Lawwill was second with 15:55; Memori Rosales finished in 16:43 for fourth; Kaitlyn Lopez was sixth with a time of 17:26, followed by Abeigh Dicke in 17:31.

JUNIOR VARSITY BOYS

Nathan Vo checked in at 21:32 for sixth and behind him was Moises Morales in 22:11.

JUNIOR HIGH GIRLS

The Lady Bulldogs scored 37 points for second place.

Josephine Pilat won the race with 14:03; Loralie Pilat came in fourth with 14:52; and Jillian Holloway was timed at 16:40 for No. 13.

Kassidy Rivera was No. 16 in 17:17.

Naomy Galvan was No. 20 in 18:19 and directly behind her were Olga Rojas (18:23), Rosuhlee Herrera (18:51), Madison Garza (19:20), Kaizlyn Gonzales (19:25) and Avery Hagan (19:29). Carolina Espinoza was No. 30 in 21:02.

JUNIOR HIGH BOYS

Joseph Novak was sixth in 13:05, followed by Lukas Gonzales in 13:16 and Victor Espinoza in 13:20. Benito Olmedo got No 10 in 13:36.
