St. Paul girls basketball: Lady Cardinals lose season-opening game at Moulton

The St. Paul girls basketball have started the 2022-23 season with a couple of loses.
Moulton 46, St. Paul 26
Brooke Cerny scored nine points, and Anna Reeves made a triple and had seven points but St. Paul came up short in their season opener at Moulton on Nov. 18, 46-26.
The Kittens outscored St. Paul 8-5 in the first quarter and scored 11 of 18 points in the second quarter.
Moulton scored 11of 17 third-frame points and went on a 16-8 fourth-quarter run.

Kristin Cerny hit a three and scored seven points and Julia Machacek recorded six points in the Lady Cards’ 53-31 loss at Schulenburg Nov. 21
The Lady Shorthorns led 18-4 after one quarter and 31-9 at halftime. Schulenburg outscored St. Paul 12-10 in the third frame and St. Paul scored 12 of 22 points in the fourth quarter.

Machacek and Brooke Cerny each sank eight points but St. Paul found itself falling at Falls City Nov. 22 39-26.
The Lady Cards led 8-6 after the first quarter and the Beaverettes went on a 15-9 run in the second for a 21-17 halftime lead before outscoring the Lady Cards 3-0 in the third and 15-9 in the fourth.
