YHS Bulldog Baseball Team beats Rice in Yoakum

    The Yoakum High School (YHS) Bulldog Baseball Team won against Rice Consolidated April 2 and lost to Hallettsville in district games April 6.

    YOAKUM 10, RICE CONSOLIDATED 2

    Despite just six hits, the Bulldogs scored plenty of runs to down Rice Consolidated 10-2 on April 2 in Yoakum.

    The Bulldogs led 2-0 after one inning and 2-1 after two frames. The Bulldogs scored four runs in the third and four more in the sixth innig.

    Qyion Williams was the only multi-hitter batter as he was 2-for3, double, run, and two RBI. Ty Gordon was 1-for2, three RBI, double, and one run.

    Wyatt Hanzelka went the distance at pitcher, ceding two runs on seven hits with two walks and six strikeouts.

    Williams and Sutton Pavliska each made five putouts on defense.

    The Bulldogs could not get anything going in the return district trip to Hallettsville as they came up short 10-0.

    The Bulldogs were held to a single hit, a single by Brett Lerch.

    Hallettsville led 3-0 after one inning and scored two in the third frame before going up 6-0 in the fifth. The Brahmas scored four in the fifth box to conclude the game.

    Brenten Jacob started on the mound, going 2/3 innings, three runs, three hits, three walks, and one strikeout. Owen Blanco went 3 1/3 innings with a pair of hits, three runs, two walks, and four strikeouts. Bradley Jacob pitched with three runs and two walked. Garrett Green tossed for 1/3 innings, one run, and two walks. Lerch finished with 1/3 innings, one hit, and one walk.
