YHS Lady Bulldog spikers fall to Goliad in bi-district round
After dropping the opening two sets by large margins, the Yoakum volleyball team came to the conclusion they needed to relax a little.
Facing a powerful Goliad team in the bidistrict Monday night in Cuero, the Lady Bulldogs gave the Tigerettes plenty to handle but came up short in the third game, 25-21. Goliad took the first two games by identical 25-7 scores.
“We did do anything different in the third set. It was the same kids on the floor, the same game plan. I think they finally loosened up and decided we have to play now because it’s the third set and we have to play hard or it’s over,” Yoakum head coach Kayla Natho said. “I am proud of them for competing in the third set, just wished they would have done it sooner in the match. Goliad is an intimidating team and they are top two or three in 3A.”
Yoakum’s final season record is 20-20.
“It was a good season. We fought through a lot of adversity,” Natho said. “We fought through some injuries and a lot of different lineups changes. The players are great and I loved working with them every day.”
The Lady ‘Dogs graduate Brianna Lopez, Leah Muenich, Samantha Adamek, Olivia Fojt and Amori Harper.
“I am going to miss everything about them. They are so much fun to be around,” Natho said.
