Shiner girls basketball: Lady Comanches win second at KC tourney
The Lady Comanches won three and lost one at the Karnes City Tournament last week to place runner up.

Morgan Lenehan scored 13 points and Rylee Vancura had 11 points as Shiner faced La Vernia in the Lady Comanches’ first tournament game, falling 57-48.
The Lady Bears led 15-11 after the first frame and their lead was cut to three after Shiner went on a 16-15 run in the second box. La Vernia had a big third quarter, outscoring Shiner 16-9 and the Lady Comanches managed a 12-11 scoring advantage in the last eight minutes.
Lenehan had six rebounds; Vancura had six rebounds; Addy Siegel had seven rebounds, three steals; Aimee Mitchon had five rebounds; Kailey Boedeker added five rebounds, four assists; Callie Sevcik chipped in two steals.

The Lady Comanches opened their second tournament against Stockdale with a 16-5 first-quarter lead and went on to a 37-22 win.
Stockdale outscored the Lady Comanches 7-3 in the second frame before Shiner scored 11 of 16 points in the third period and outscored Stockdale 7-5 in the fourth frame.
Vancura led Shiner with 13 points and Sevcik netted 11 points.
Vancura had seven rebounds; Sevcik added nine steals, five rebounds; Siegel had four steals, three rebounds. Lenehan added two rebounds, two assists; Mitchon had three rebounds; Barnett had three rebounds and Brinley Ramirez had two rebounds.

The Lady Comanches defeated Skidmore-Tynan 44-33 to conclude pool play and the second seed.
Vancura sank 20 points and Siegel finished with 10 points.
Shiner led 10-2 to end the first frame and outscored the Lady Bobcats 19-10 in the second for a 29-12 halftime lead. The Lady Comanches did not let up, outscoring S-T 13-8 in the third period. S-T managed to score 13 of 15 points in the fourth period to make the game a little more interesting.
Vancura had nine rebounds, two steals; Siegel added six rebounds, three steals; Lenehan chipped in six rebounds three assists; Mitchon had four assists, two rebounds; Barnett had three rebounds, three steals, two assists; Sevcik finished with four steals, three rebounds, two assists.

On Saturday, Shiner faced the runner up in the other pool, Nixon-Smiley, dominating the game 74-26.
Four Lady Comanches scored in double figures, led by Lenehan who had 25 points, three triples and 11 rebounds for a double double. Sevcik dropped in 13 points; Vancura scored 11 points and Boedeker had 10 points with two triples.
Shiner led 26-6 after one frame and was ahead 41-9 at halftime before outscoring the Lady Mustangs 33-17 in the second half.
