Two perish in Hwy. 77 crash

A two-vehicle collision Thursday evening, resulted in both drivers losing their lives in the accident.According to a report from Texas Department of Public Safety spokesman Sgt. Ruben San Miguel, the fatal crash occurred at approximately 7:34 p.m. on Highway 77, north of Lavaca County Road 240.

Chamber President Highlights Unity and Selfless Service at 77th Awards Banquet

The Moulton Chamber of Commerce celebrated its 77th annual Chamber Awards Banquet last Wednesday at George’s Hall.Prominent members of the community, including City Council members and first responders, were in attendance as well as citizens who support the Chamber.

YHS Student Council enters Phase Four of Beautification Project

The Yoakum High School Student Council has been making some strides in their ongoing Beautification Project that they’ve been working on for the past three years.They are now on Phase Four of the project, which will be the completion of the project.

Czechaholics inducted into South Texas Polka Hall of Fame

A popular area polka band, The Czechaholics, were honored last Sunday, March 22 by being inducted into the South Texas Polka Hall of Fame.Taking place during the 45th annual South Texas Polka and Sausage Fest, this was the eight induction HOF ceremonies held during the event.

Burn ban goes into effect

With the Keetch-Byram Drought Index (KBDI) average for Lavaca County having risen over the past weeks and current weather conditions creating a potential for wildfires, County Judge Keith Mudd issued an executive order Monday morning, March 30 calling for a burn ban for the county.

Hallettsville has new municipal court judge

The City of Hallettsville wishes to announce Yvonne Michelle Williams has been appointed as its new Municipal Court Judge.Williams, a native of Hallettsville, was sworn in and held her first court on March 24.
