To the victors, go the spoils.The Sacred Heart Indians dominated the TAPPS Division V all-state and all-district teams.Layne Sevcik and Ty Noska were first team allstate and Bowen Hawkins and Dillon Goedrich second team all-state.

Shiner baseball: Burton overcomes Shiner in two games in regional finals

BASTROP — The Shiner baseball team had several uncharacteristic mistakes in the regional-final series against Burton.The Panthers took advantage of some of them in sweeping Shiner 4-1 and 2-1 Thursday in Bastrop to end the Comanches’ season.

Shiner softball: RETURN OF THE LADY COMANCHES-Shiner sweeps Cross Roads to book second straight trip to state championship game

TEMPLE — The Shiner Lady Comanches softball team will be playing in the state title game for the second straight season.Shiner swept Malakoff Cross Roads in the state semifinals 11-0 on May 21 and 10-4 on Thursday at Lake Belton High School in Temple.

Jerseys eliminate Brahmas

BEEVILLE - "That's Baseball" is the best way to describe the Hallettsville Brahmas' two losses to Falfurrias played at Joe Hunter Field. Brahma pitchers issued 17 walks and hit three batters in the final two games.Hallettsville won the first game in nine innings Thursday night, 1-0.

Shiner softball: Lady Comanches move on to state semis with sweep of Weimar Lady ‘Cats

COLUMBUS — The Lady Comanches advanced to the state semifinals with a sweep of Weimar in the regional final for the second year in a row, Thursday and Friday at Columbus High School.

Shiner baseball: Comanches win regional semis against Bartlett in two games

LA GRANGE — The Comanches move on to the regional finals with a sweep of Bartlett Thursday and Friday at La Grange High School.Shiner won the first game comfortably by 18 runs and then gained valuable experience on clutch defense in a 5-3 win in the second game.

Students recognized at YISD Board meeting, resignations and retirees announced

Students were recognized at the Yoakum Independent School District meeting May 12 for both art and track.Taylor Velek was recognized for her submission in an art contest. Her artwork, titled “Ranch Hands” qualified for state competition. There were 2,359 artworks judged.

Board recognizes state champion relay team

The Hallettsville ISD Board of Trustees met in a regular meeting Monday evening and began the meeting by recognizing the Brahma 4x100 relay team who brought home the gold medal at the UIL State Championship Track and Field Meet.
