shiner girls basketball: Lady Comanches beat Louise, Weimar in district play

Last-quarter defense came in very handy for the Shiner Lady Comanches.Down by five after three quarters Friday afternoon against Weimar, Shiner limited the Lady Wildcats to four points and scored 17 in a 45-37 win that improved Shiner to 2-1 in district play.

Brahmas defeat Moulton, S'burg

SCHULENBURG – The Hallettsville Brahmas avenged losses to Schulenburg and Moulton in the Schulenburg Tournament Friday and Saturday.Brahmas 45, S’burg 38The Brahmas held on to beat Schulenburg 45- 38 Friday afternoon.

Indianettes defeat Rice

WEIMAR – The Sacred Heart Indians defeated Altair Rice Consolidated, 31-22, for their lone victory in the Weimar Holiday Hoops Classic Friday.SH led 14-6 at the first break and expanded the lead to 24-11 at the half.

Eight Brahmas 1st team All-District

Aiden Drozd gained the ultimate award when he was named Lineman of the Year in District 12-AAA, Division I.D ro z d , a 6 - 2 , 2 3 5 pound senior, graded 93% on offense and had 31 pancake blocks. On defense, he recorded 10 tackles for losses and forced two fumbles.

The Sacred Heart Indians had eight players named to the TAPPS District 5, Division IV alldistrict football team.Slotback/Defensive back Hudson Kutac was a first team pick on offense and defense and Lance Barton as an offensive and defensive lineman.

Faculty nips Indianettes, 41-40

The Annual Indianettes vs. the Faculty contest came down to the wire.The Faculty eked out a 41-40 victory in the game played Thursday afternoon.The Faculty led 41-35 in the waning seconds before Mallory Mueller scored a bucket and Heather Wilson hit a three-pointer to close the gap to one.

Lady Brahmas lose to Edna

The Hallettsville Lady Brahmas’ District 25-AAA win streak was snapped at two with a 59-46 loss to Edna on the Cowgirls’ home court Tuesday, Dec. 17.Poor shooting and 30 turnovers hindered Hallettsville’s chances of winning.The LB shot 26.2% from the field and were 7 of 19 from the free throw line.

St. Paul boys basketball: Cardinals improve a little, still have work to do after Gators rout
