Agreements were approved at the DeWitt County Commissioners Court meeting on June 9. The first item approved was extending the economic development agreement between the Cuero Livestock Show Inc. and DeWitt County for a one-year term.

DeWitt Commissioners provide jury compensation report

A report on jury compensation was given at the DeWitt County Commissioners Court meeting on May 27. It was reported that jurors will receive a debit card for their service, and if they don’t exercise their right to spend that money in a certain time frame, it is forfeited.

Meet new JP1 Lindsay Ruppert

After interviewing eight applicants, the DeWitt County Commissioners appointed Lindsay Renee Ruppert, of Yoakum, as Justice of the Peace for Precinct 1 (JP1) May 12. She will fill the vacancy left by the retirement of Peggy Mayer March 28.

DeWitt Commissioners rescind burn ban

The DeWitt County Commissioners’ Court has ordered to rescind the burn ban at the May 12 meeting.“It looks like we have had a significant amount of rain lately,” Judge Daryl Fowler said.
