Shiner baseball:Shiner nine win runner up at Appelt Tournament

The Shiner Comanches won three of four and placed second at the Hallettsville Jimmy Appelt Tournament last week. Shiner 13, Natalia 0 Kaiden Boothe held Natalia Mustang to three hits and struck out 13 batters as the Comanches sank Natalia 13-0 Thursday to open the tournament in Hallettsville.

The Shiner softball team started the season with a pretty grueling  schedule with the knowledge of how tough district opponent Weimar is. Especially in the pitching department.

Shiner Lady Comanches won the Weimar Tournament March 1 with a total score of 410.

HALLETTSVILLE — The Shiner baseball team went 3-0 in the Sacred Heart Tournament last week, averaging nine runs scored a game and not giving up a single run. Senior Drew Wenske was named Tournament MVP and senior Ryan Peterson made the All-Tournament Team.

The Shiner track and field teams competed in their first meet on Thursday at the Edna Cowboy Relays with the varsity girls earning first place and varsity boys placing top four.

The Shiner tennis team held its home tournament on Feb. 20. Varsity Girls Singles Jordan Munsch placed third. Girls Doubles Haley Patek and Julie Ivy placed second. Boys Singles Kyle Adamek earned first place, Dylan Cerny was second and Cade Murrile came in third place.

Shiner baseball:Comanches place second in Columbus

The Shiner Comanches baseball went 3-1 in the Columbus Tournament and placed second. Shiner 10, Lexington 3 Carson Schuette, Landyn Pohler and Keenan Hailey all had a two-hit day at the plate as Shiner beat Lexington 10-3 in their tournament opener on Thursday.
