YISD receives construction updates

The Yoakum ISD received additional updates on the construction of both the baseball and softball field as well as other projects at the July 8 board meeting.Board members had to decide on a couple of factors that Weaver and Jacobs Constructors Inc. plan to implement.
Yoakum High School Student Council Texas Association of Student Councils (TASC) Top Project Bulldog Beautification. TASC has almost 1,200 member schools. Yoakum’s Student Council is one of only 10 high school student councils statewide to receive the highly-esteemed honor.

The Yoakum Independent School District received an update from Weaver and Jacobs Constructors Inc. at the June 10 meeting.One of the main things that have already started includes construction related to access control and safety.

YISD approves Head Start contract, awards presented at May meeting

In the agenda, the Yoakum Independent School District approved a contract through INK Education Services for the school’s Head Start Program at the May 13 meeting.“This is for our Head Start Program at the Primary Annex,” Superintendent Tom Kelley said.
The YHS Student Council has received many donations and grants from the community. The most recent donation the council has received was from Yoakum National Bank in the amount of $2,100. Contributed photo.

The Yoakum Independent School District has initiated several applications for funding at the April 8 meeting.One of these applications included a contract for Title Programs and the Carl Perkins funds.

YHS Student Council earns statewide recognition

Yoakum High School (YHS) Student Council has been recognized by the Texas Association of Student Councils (TASC)for its Top Project submission. TASC has almost 1,200 member schools. Of those, it is one of only 10 high school student councils statewide to receive the highly esteemed honor.

YISD cancels general election

The Yoakum Independent School District officially ordered to cancel their 2024 general election at the March 4 meeting. They opted to do this because YISD had no contested races for school board positions.
