July rains total 2.62 inches

July’s rain total fell near the average mark following two months which produced over 17 inches, and was much welcomed.For the month rain totaled 2.62 inches, which sent the year’s total to 30.09 inches. Rain fell on nine days, with the heaviest of 0.59 falling on the eleventh.

June sees several rounds of heavy rain

Slow-moving thunderstorms visited the city and county setting the stage for flooding rainfall totaling 5.18 inches on the fifth and 2.40 inches on the 15th.June rang up a 9.12 inch total, with rain falling on 14 days. The amount was the heaviest since 21.

Skies open with abundant rain

The skies opened up Friday afternoon bringing gallons of rain falling to the earth.In just a short period of about three hours, rain fell on the surrounding areas bringing unofficial reports of anywhere between three to six inches.

May rains hit 8 inch mark

May became the year’s wettest month thanks to strong storms bringing locally heavy rainfall and high winds.The northern part of the county also saw a tornado warning during the stormy period. The warning lasted about a half hour on the twenty-seventh in the northern reaches of the county.

April showers bring good rain totals

April is one of the year’s wetter months with 4.85 inches on average. Several rounds of showers during the month led to soaking precip which put a dent in the ongoing drought. To date the city is at 9.93 inches which is 2.38 inches behind the normal average of 11.31 inches.

Area Thunderstorms: Some got soaked, all want more

Thunderstorms descended upon Lavaca County on Sunday, leaving many folks joyous while others wished for more.There’s no doubt the rain was spotty, to say the least. People living in the Cotton Grove area were elated; unofficial reports indicate they received 10 to 11 inches of rain.

March short on rain

March followed the first two months of the year by producing little rain and adding to the growing rainfall deficit.Only 1.01 of an inch fell bringing this year’s total to 4.38 inches. Hallettsville is now 3.49 inches below the 30 year average of 7.87 inches.

June is one of the wettest months of the year and the much-needed rainfall totaling 6.09 inches was much appreciated.Rain fell on nine days with the heaviest of 2.36 inches coming on the 12th as multiple showers passed over the county. The amount was the most since 1.97 inches on January 9th.

The skies finally opened up this past week with the area receiving some much needed rain and gave Hallettsville and Lavaca County residents a welcome sight.According to local National Weather Service observer Larry Rothbauer, Hallettsville received officially 5.

May rains top five-inch mark

May came to the rescue with several heavy storms which helped put a dent in the year’s deficit. All total the month rang up 5.74 inches, which is the highest one-month amount this year.As daily amounts go 1.91 inches on the 27th was the highest one-day total since 1.97 inches fell on January ninth.
