The Shiner High School One Act Play has earned the title of State Champion at the 2A Conference held at the Austin Performing Arts Center. The play was called Silent Sky by Lauren Gunderson. “I played Peter Shaw, one of the main characters, in the play,” Senior Patrick Egan said.

DeWitt County Commissioners executed and implemented an Economic Development and Donation Agreement between DeWitt County and the Cuero Livestock Show at the May 13 meeting.The donation is $25,000 and will go towards the maintenance and operations before and after the Cuero Livestock Show.

YISD approves Head Start contract, awards presented at May meeting

As storms hit the Yoakum community on May 13, members of the city Electrical Department worked power lines on Highland and Svoboda streets. Strong winds and sheets of rain were reported. Tree limbs and trash bins were scattered in several yards.

The Community Connections of Lavaca County is celebrating 50 years of service.Community Connections provides homecooked meals for seniors as well as a transit service.
At Monday’s Lavaca County Commissioners’ Court meeting, the court declared the week of May 19-25 as Emergency Medical Services Week. Members of the Lavaca County EMS team were present for the meeting front from left are Lavaca County EMS chief Michael A. Furrh, Captain Melissa Leopold, FTO Steve Garcia, AEMT Aiyanna Adams, Paramedic Abby Pulatie, EMT Austin Kutac and Assistant chief Tim Decker.
