Inmate baptism provides hope for those incarcerated

Eight inmates and a Lavaca County jailer were baptized Friday at the Lavaca County Jail as part of an ongoing effort to expand faithbased programs for those incarcerated at the facility.

Council amends Manufactured Homes Ordinance, approves street repair projects

The Moulton City Council amended the city’s manufactured homes ordinance at the Feb. 10 meeting.“This is so that any manufactured homes coming in have to be ten years or less of age,” City Administrator LuAnn Rogers said. “It cannot be more than ten years old. If it’s past 2016, it is ineligible.

Dustin Meaux named new superintendent

The Sweet Home Independent School District recently named Dustin Meaux as its new superintendent. Meaux is a native of Goliad and he said he has always had an appreciation for small town America and rural education.

YEDC approves grants to enhance local business and community aesthetics

The Yoakum Economic Development Corporation (YEDC) approved two grant applications during its Feb. 24 meeting, supporting business development and continued improvements to community aesthetics.The first application was submitted by Yoakum Lube and Tire LLC, located at 212 U.S. Highway 77A North.

HJH to display Proposition B project

In May 2024, Hallettsville ISD voters approved a Proposition B bond for $9.3 million which went toward renovations and expansions on the Junior High campus.
