New research center to open at Lavaca Historical Museum

The Lavaca Historical Museum has announced the creation of a new research center made possible through a generous donation from Judi Hewitt.The facility, named the Robert E. and Doris Zumwalt Research Center, honors two of the museum’s most dedicated contributors.

Moulton Police Officer Irene Hernandez sent in her resignation to the Moulton Police Department. (MPD).She has served over a year with the MPD said this is a bittersweet moment. “I started back in August of last year,” Hernandez said. “I did do patrol and task forces.

MISD to host Veterans Day event

The Moulton Independent School District will be hosting a Veterans Day event next week.On next Tuesday, Nov. 11 at 10 a.m., there will be a program for Veterans at Moulton ISD in the school gymnasium. There will be a luncheon afterwards for veterans and their immediate family.

Council discusses gaming ordinance

The Moulton City Council discussed an ordinance regarding games in local gas stations at the Oct. 14 council meeting.“This is for gaming machines in the city, they have some concerns about it,” City Administrator LuAnn Rogers said. “We had an old ordinance from 2013, and it needs updating.

Yoakum Vietnam veteran revisits the time he served

A Yoakum Vietnam Veteran recently took a blast from the past and visited places that he had served in Vietnam.Larry Kupka went on a trip to Vietnam with his son, Jason and Jason's wife Sarah. " I did multiple tours to Vietnam from February 1968 to April 1970," Kupka said.

Country music star Justin Trevino will be playing at Wied Hall on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. Doors will open at 6 p.m.Trevino grew up in Lockhart, and he describes his music style as “Texas dance hall music.”. “When I say that, I’m talking about musicians like Bob Wills or Ray Price,” Trevino said.
