January sees snow, rain

For the first time in several years the area saw a nice dusting of snow which reached two to three inches locally.Snow and sleet fell on January 20-21 causing slushy, icy conditions for anyone trying to travel.The month also brought 3.13 inches of rain.

Shiner Police Department enters into agreement with Operation Lone Star

The Shiner City Council approved an Interlocal Cooperation Agreement between counties and cities associated with Operation Lone Star for law enforcement services. “The main goal is to make the community safer,” Shiner Police Chief Wayne Denson said.

CDA receives new members, awards membership pins

The Shiner Catholic Daughters of Court St. Paul #1604 met on January 27. Regent Shirley Nagelmueller presided and welcomed local members as well as District Deputy Kathleen Svatek from Flatonia. Members were treated to noodle soup and trimmings.
