Yoakum High School receives $25,000 grant for digital sign

The Yoakum High School Student Council soon will install a new marquee in front of Yoakum High School thanks to a $25,000 grant from the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) and the City of Yoakum.

YISD receives construction updates

The Yoakum ISD received additional updates on the construction of both the baseball and softball field as well as other projects at the July 8 board meeting.Board members had to decide on a couple of factors that Weaver and Jacobs Constructors Inc. plan to implement.

The Hallettsville Chamber of Commerce recently made some renovations to their building expanding their Visitor’s Center.“There was a house bill that passed this past year affecting our eligibility for Hot Funds from the city,” Hallettsville Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Joann Shimek said.

Texas to remove annual vehicle inspections

The Texas Department of Public Safety announced upcoming changes to the state’s “Vehicle Safety Inspection Program.”Beginning Jan. 1 of next year, non-commercial vehicles will no longer need a vehicle safety inspection prior to registration.

Arrest

On Saturday, July 6, 2024, at approximately 10:30 P.M., officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of the 200 Blk of N. Texana St. The driver resisted arrest, resulting in an altercation where one of our officers was assaulted.
