County implements burn ban

The Lavaca County Commissioners’ Court met Monday and voted to implement a burn ban for the county.

Lavaca County Fire Chiefs Association liaison Tim Decker told the court the association goes off a Keetch Byram Drought Index (KBDI) average reading of 500 during the summer months.

The reported average reading for Monday morning sat at 534 for the county.
