Joyce Kneifel
Joyce Marie Kneifel, 91, of Shiner, passed away on Monday, August 31, 2026.
She was born on March 10, 1935, in Shiner, to Adolph Wegener and Annie Holocher Wegener.
Joyce married the love of her life, Joseph Paul “Joe” Kneifel, on October 22, 1957 at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Shiner. Together, Joyce and Joe built a life centered around their home and family and shared many wonderful years together before his passing.
Joyce spent her life devoted to her home and family. As a homemaker, she took great pride in caring for those she loved through cooking, cleaning, and making her home a welcoming place for family, friends, and neighbors.
She was especially well known for making the best sweet tea. It was so good that people throughout the neighborhood would stop by for a glass. She was also the best cook; homemade soups hold a warm spot in the hearts of everyone who ever tried her soups.
One of Joyce’s favorite outings was a trip to China B, a Chinese buffet in Victoria. She enjoyed visiting the restaurant as frequently as she was able. Shrimp was her main choice and she wouldn’t be ready to go unless she had at least one of their ice cream cones. It became one of those simple pleasures she always looked forward to.
Joyce will be remembered for the love and care she gave her family, the welcoming home she created, and the simple traditions that brought people together. Whether it was homemade soup on Sundays, a glass of her famous sweet tea, or simply time spent visiting, Joyce had a way of making her home a place where people wanted to gather.
Her memory will live on through the generations of family she leaves behind and the many lives she touched throughout her 91 years. She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her children, Jo Beth Condel and husband Douglas, Donna Kneifel, Michael Kneifel and wife Carol, and Byron Kneifel; grandchildren, Jason Condel, Kyle Condel (Jessica), Ty Condel and wife Abby, Nicole Torres and husband Daniel, Jeremy Kneifel, Craig Kneifel, and Sierra Sohutskay and husband David; great-grandchildren, Joey, Cannon, Casey, Callum, Elsie, Landyn, Kaylee, Bryleigh and Ava; and brother, Perry Wegener, Sr. and wife Patsy.
