Local high school football: Playoffs on tap for Shiner teams

The Comanches and Cardinals football open playoffs this week in their respective bi-district games. The Cardinals will play Fort Worth Temple Christian Friday at Temple Central Texas Christian while Shiner is closer to home as they battle Woodsboro today at 7 p.m. in Cuero.

St. Paul football: Lions halt St. Paul’s 2H momentum

After scoring to get within 30-14 of Temple CTC, St. Paul recovered an onside kick to get the momentum meter go back to their side.

Shiner volleyball: Shiner moves to third round for 1st time since ‘20

FAYETTEVILLE — Shiner went into the area-round match riding a small wave of confidence from their bi-district victory.The Lady Comanches stayed level headed and swept Mumford 25-19, 26-24 and 25-22 to advance past the area round for the first time since 2020.

St. Paul volleyball: Lady Cards volleyball headed to state for first time in six years

FAYETTEVILLE — The St. Paul Cardinals officially made their reservation to the state volleyball tournament with a sweep of Bryan St. Joseph. St. Paul won 25-9, 25-22 and 25-13 Saturday afternoon in Fayetteville.

Moulton girls basketball: Kittens open season with pair of wins

The Moulton Kittens opened the 2024-25 hoops season with two wins last week.Moulton 46, Snook 19Audrey Swinford swished in a dozen points as the Kittens took down Snook 46-19 on Thursday in Snook.Moulton led 10-3 after the first quarter and outscored Snook 13-3 in the second box.

LB drop season finale

YOAKUM – Hallettsville took a set from Yoakum before succumbing 3-1 in the Lady Brahmas season finale Tuesday, Oct. 29.Yoakum will represent District 25-AAA as the third place team, while Hallettsville ended its season 16-25 and 4-10.
