Yoakum girls soccer: Lady Bulldogs finish seventh in home tournament, beat Hallettsville

The Lady Bulldogs soccer team opened the regular season with their inaugural home tournament last week, getting one win, two draws and two losses, finishing in seventh place. Yoakum 3, Hallettsville 0 The Lady ‘Dogs played Hallettsville in pool play and bracket play.

Moulton boys basketball: Katz rally to beat Shiner

Trenton Meisetschleager scored 15 points and Edgar Mendiola deposited 11 points to lead the Katz to a 44-41 comeback win at Shiner on Jan. 3. Shiner led 14-12 after the first quarter and outscored the Katz 10-6 in second box. Moulton went on a 13-10 run to trail by three at the end of the third.

St. Paul girls basketball: Dallyn Pesek leads St. Paul to win over Kerrville OLH

Dallyn Pesek scored 20 points, Riley Mozisek bagged 17 points and Anna Reeves had 13 points in St. Paul’s 72-20 win at Kerrville Our Lady of the Hills on Saturday. St. Paul took a 15-9 lead after the first quarter and scored two dozen points in the second frame while holing OLH to three points.

St. Paul boys basketball: Cardinals rout Kerrville OLH

Trent Brown sank 17 points and Fisher Davis dropped in 11 points to lead St. Paul Cardinals to a 61-17 win at Kerrville Our Lady of the Hills on Saturday. St. Paul started hot with a 21-2 run in the first frame and remained hot with a 14-3 run in the second quarter for a big 35-5 halftime  lead.

Yoakum boys basketball: Bulldogs battle, come up short against Brahmas and Tigers

Yoakum went 0-2 last week in district games at Hallettsville and Tidehaven. Hallettsville 56, Yoakum 30 The Brahmas took a 10-2 lead in the first frame and cruised to a 56-30 win over Yoakum Jan. 3. The Brahmas led 19-14 at halftime after a 12-9 Yoakum run in the second.

The Lady Bulldogs dropped two district road games last week against Hallettsville and Tidehaven. Hallettsville 52, Yoakum 42 Destiny Rios scored 14 points and Jayana Phillips bagged another 11 as Yoakum came up short to the Lady Brahmas after a second-half Hallettsville rally.

Moulton girls hoops: Kittens get five wins in recent acton

The Moulton Bobkittens went 3-1 in the Thorndale Tournament Dec. 27-29 and hosted Karnes City Jan. 3 before returning to district with win over PL.

Moulton junior high teams  basketball teams took wins over Nordheim last Thursday. Moulton girls 58, Nordheim 9 Madison Rothbauer scored 22 points to lead Moulton past the Nordheim 58-9.

St. Paul boys basketball: Bracken beats Cardianls with perimeter shooting

As in previous meetings, the St. Paul Cardinals knew exactly what they would facing in Bulverde Bracken. A very stout team that excels at outside shooting. The Warriors lived up to expectations as they hit nine triples in a 50-35 win over the Cardinals Jan. 3 at St. Paul High School.

The St. Paul Lady Cardinals are striving to improve while fighting for victories. St. Paul improved to 2-0 in district play in a 34-25 win against Bulverde Bracken Christian Jan. 3 at home. “We are trying to grow as we win,” Lady  Cardinals head coach Jake Wachsmuth said.
