Shiner ISD softball camp June 6-8

The Shiner Lady Comanche Summer Softball Camp will be held June 6-8 at the high school softball field at Green Dickson Park. The camp is for players entering in grades 1-8. Incoming Grades 1-4 will have their session from 8:30-10:30 am. Players entering Grades 5-8 will go from 10:30 to 12:30 p.m.

Shiner baseball: Comanches down Thorndale in two games.

The Shiner Comanches scored nine total runs and gave up one run to sweep Thorndale (1-0, 8-1) in the regional-quarterfinal series Thursday and Friday at La Grange Baseball Field. Shiner will play Kenedy in the regional quarterfinals at Victoria Riverside Stadium.

Zak Johnson accepted an offer from Temple College to play baseball. A ceremony was held May 19 to celebrate his achievement. St. Paul baseball: Johnson commits to play baseball at Temple College

BY MARK LUBE/SPORTS EDITOR SHINERSPORTS@SBCGLOBAL.NET Three-sport Cardinal athlete Zak Johnson had solidified a huge chunk  of his collegiate plans. Johnson has accepted an offer from and has committed to Temple College in central Texas to play baseball at the junior college level.

Beck Bishop ties for No. 29 at state golf tournament

Shiner junior golfer Beck Bishop competed as an individual in the state tournament May 9-10 at Lion’s Municipal Golf Course in Austin. He carded a 92 on the first day and recorded a 106 on the second day for a total of 198. Bishop officially tied for 29th place in the individual standings.

St. Paul baseball: Cardinals runner up in Division V after close loss to Weatherford Christian

The St. Paul Cardinals baseball team wrapped up the season as TAPPS V state finalists after a narrow 3-2 loss to Weatherford Christian the morning of May 18 at the state tournament held at the University of Texas at Arlington’s Clay Gould Ballpark.

Yoakum Basketball: Yoakum cagers to play in All-Star game

Four Yoakum basketball players will play in an All-Star game next month. Lady Bulldog players Brooklin Berger and Taylor Hlavac, and Bulldog players Isaiah Bordovsky and Calder Peagler will take part in the 3rd Lace ‘Em Up All-Star Game June 4 at the Schulenburg High School new gym.
