Shiner girls basketball: LC rally to beat Weimar; Lenehan reaches 1500 points

WEIMAR — Late in the third quarter and trailing by nine against Weimar,  the Shiner girls made some changes to tactics and focus. It paid dividends as the Lady Comanches scored 21 straight points in a run that went into the the final quarter for a 48-38 win Jan.

Moulton boys basketball: Katz slowly overcome Waelder 49-24

The Waelder Wildcats made it really challenging for the Katz Friday in Moulton.Moulton led just 18-9 at halftime but finally pulled away with a 31-15 run in the second half for a 49-24 win.“We struggled for the whole game.

Moulton girls basketball: Entire Kittens varsity roster sees action in Waelder game

The Moulton Kittens made sure everyone got in the action to get set for upcoming playoffs.Moulton played the penultimate game of the regular season and last home game in an 86-3 win over Waelder on Friday.The Kittens were making substitutions every several minutes in all quarters.

Indianettes fall to RTC

CARMINE – Following a slew of turnovers, the Sacred Heart Indianettes lost to Round Top-Carmine 54-34 Friday night.SH could not control the Eilers twins - Tess and Jill - who combined for 19 points.Jill Eilers scored 6 points in the first quarter and the Cubettes led 18-6.

LB gets revenge victory over Edna

Balanced scoring carried the Hallettsville Lady Brahmas to a 66-47 revenge victory over Edna in a District 25-AAA game against Edna here Monday, Jan. 20.The LB had four players in double figures.The victory avenged a 59-46 loss to Edna Dec. 17.

Brahmas drop games to Edna, Columbus

The Hallettsville Brahmas are losing but it’s not because they are not trying.The Brahmas lost two games in District 25-AAA last week to Edna and Columbus, the most recent a 69-57 loss the Cardinals Friday night.

Tribe's third period rally leads to rout of Cubs

CARMINE – A big third quarter surge carried the Sacred Heart Indians to a 57-38 victory over Round Top-Carmine Friday night.The Indians had a onepoint lead at the half prior to a 20-1 run in the third quarter to take a 41-21 advantage into the final eight minutes.

Shiner girls basketball: Shiner 7th grade girls hoops wins two tournaments

Shiner 7th grade girls won all three games in their division in the Schulenburg tournament on Jan. 11, defeating St. Rose, Schulenburg and Industrial to earn first-place medals.  The following weekend in Yoakum, 7th graders bested Edna and Gonzales before facing Poth in the championship game.

The Shiner Lady Comanches junior varsity basketball team withstood an 8-6 St. Paul second-half run to hang on to a 24-21 win on Friday.Shiner led 12-9 at the end of the first quarter and scored six of 10 points in the second period for an 18-13 halftime lead.St.
