Bishop Brendan J. Cahill has been appointed by Pope Leo XIV to become the next bishop of the Diocese of Joliet, Illinois.The appointment was announced by the Vatican on Sept. 17. Cahill will become the seventh bishop of Joliet, which serves Catholics in seven counties southwest of Chicago.
