County Courthouse to undergo restoration

Lavaca County residents may expect temporary changes at the county courthouse over the next several months as restoration and maintenance projects get underway.In a Facebook post, County Judge Keith Mudd said the courthouse’s exterior door and entrance restoration project has already begun.

When Steven Greenwell grabbed the Good Book and told the Lavaca County residents and honored guests who gathered that New Year’s Day inside the local courthouse that he wanted to open by reading a few words, several in attendance instinctively bowed their heads.

Grand jury doles out eight indictments

Lavaca County grand jurors handed down eight felony indictments last month, almost all of which were tied to illegal drugs. One of those eight cases was returned a sealed indictment, which typically involves cases where an arrest warrant wasn’t yet served. An indictment does not imply guilt.
