Funeral services for the 41-year-old Hallettsville man who drowned Saturday evening at Lake Texana near Edna have been scheduled for later this week in Yoakum and Sweet Home. Donnie Hart Jr., 41, died tragically late Saturday while out at the lake with his family.
Damages didn't appear too terribly bad at Hoffer's Drive In Grocery on Sunday night. Unless you happen to be a bench, in which case, we're terribly sorry for your loss.

Hallettsville police cited a motorist Sunday evening in the 800-block of West Fairwinds Street (U.S. Highway 90A) after the driver failed to control his speed and struck the side of a Lavaca County EMS ambulance while that vehicle was responding to an emergency call just west of Hallettsville.
Texas team who competed at the national championship in Georgia last week returned with several top honors, including World Champion Team and World Champion Girls & Boys Teams. There’s a new leader of the band coming to Shiner Catholic Schools, and turns out, he’s the same fellow who helped lead the Sacred Heart Indian Band to the school’s highest point finish ever (405 points), earning them the runners-up title at last year’s TAPPS State Band Championship for Class 2A.

Even triple digit heat didn't keep people away Sunday when members of St. Mary's Catholic Church near Hallettsville hosted their annual June picnic. There was plenty of food to eat, and plenty of cold drinks to drink, though.
