Court proposes tax rate

Lavaca County tax assessor-collector, Deborah A. Sevcik, presented the 2025 appraisal roll and tax rate calculations at Monday’s, Aug. 11, Commissioners’ Court meeting.Sevcik told the court the total appraised value showed an increase of 1.09% over last year’s values.

Court holds regular meeting

The Commissioners’ Court met in a regular meeting Monday morning discussing the budget and tax rate process, county road bond and routing agreement as well as addressing various county matters.

The Lavaca County Commissioners met in a regular meeting Monday morning and discussed the budget process and the related budget issuesThe matter was discussed because there is indication that the tax rate may go up this year.

Court hears supplemental insurance presentations

The Lavaca County Commissioners’ Court met in a regular meeting Monday morning hearing from two insurance agencies, who presented supplemental insurance plans for county employees for 2026 beginning with the fiscal year starting Oct. 1.

Court designates May 18-24 as EMS Week

At Monday morning ’s Lavaca County Commissioners’ Court meeting, the court approved four proclamations.One of the proclamations involved the court designating the week of May 18 through 24 as Emergency Medical Services Week.

National Correctional Officers week, May 4 - 10

At Monday’s Lavaca County Commissioners’ Court meeting, the court approved two proclamations with one involving the National Correctional Officers Week from May 4 through May 10, while the other designated May 11-17 as Police Week, that includes May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day.
