Shiner volleyball:Iola ends Shiner’s historical season in state semifinals

BRENHAM —  Shiner’s deepest playoff run in years came to an end at the hands of a defending state champion.Shiner gave the Iola Lady Bulldogs all they could handle but came up short in three sets Nov. 18 at Blinn College’s Kruse Center in Brenham.

Shiner football: Shiner scores 44 in first quarter in rout of Woodsboro

Shiner scored 44 points in the first quarter and completely overran Woodsboro Eagles 69-6 Thursday night in the 2ADII bi-district game at Cuero’s Gobbler Stadium.The Comanches had 11 different players run the football and had nine different players score touchdowns.

Shiner volleyball: Shiner earns passage to state semifinals for first time since 2008

The Lady Comanches are into the state semifinals for the first time in over a decade and half with wins over Junction and Burton.Shiner played Iola in the state semifinals Monday evening at Blinn College in Brenham.

Local high school football: Playoffs on tap for Shiner teams

The Comanches and Cardinals football open playoffs this week in their respective bi-district games. The Cardinals will play Fort Worth Temple Christian Friday at Temple Central Texas Christian while Shiner is closer to home as they battle Woodsboro today at 7 p.m. in Cuero.

Shiner volleyball: Shiner moves to third round for 1st time since ‘20

FAYETTEVILLE — Shiner went into the area-round match riding a small wave of confidence from their bi-district victory.The Lady Comanches stayed level headed and swept Mumford 25-19, 26-24 and 25-22 to advance past the area round for the first time since 2020.
