St. Paul softball: SP outs Keystone in first round

St. Paul’s bi-district playoff game at home on Saturday would be the last game for three seniors. Those seniors, Julia Machacek, Ashlyn Pesek and Paris Kutac, got a nice send-off gift as St. Paul defeated San Antonio Keyston 17-2 in three innings.

Shiner track and field: Dalton Brooks sets regional record in long jump

The Shiner Lady Comanches finished in the top three Friday and Saturday at the regional meet in Kingsville while the boys came in fifth place and Dalton Brooks set a regional record in the long jump with 23 feet, 8 3/4 inches and won the event.

Shiner softball: Lady Comanches sweep Sabinal

MARION — The Shiner softball team played the first round of the playoffs like any other game: with focus and determination. The Lady Comanches swept through the bi-district series against Sabinal, winning 31-1 and 18-0 Thursday afternoon and evening in Marion.

St. Paul golf: Lady Cards win state golf championship

The St. Paul Lady Cardinals golf team claimed the TAPPS 2A state championship April 24 at the Cottonwood Golf Course in Waco. St. Paul shot 421-395-816 as a team.  Cortney Tuch went 99-96-195 to lead the Lady Cardinals and tie for sixth overall. Anna Reeves carded 109-98-207 for ninth place.

St. Paul baseball: Indians score walk-off run to edge Cardinals 3-2

Sacred Heart’s K. Valcho hit a flyball to Zeke Rodriguez, scoring K. Chance for the walkoff run in St. Paul’s 3-2 loss to the Indians Thursday in Hallettsville. Sacred Heart scored twice in the opening inning and the Cardinals rallied to tie the game at 2-2 with two runs plated in the third frame.

St. Paul softball: Lady Cardinals thrash VFA

The Lady Cardinals softball team scored a dozen runs in the first inning April 17 at Victoria Faith Academy and went on to a 22-0 win. St. Paul scored seven runs in the second box and a trio of runs in the third square. Hailey Radicke worked in the circle with no-hit shutout with seven strikeouts.

SLE boys softball: SLE boys softball wins Hallettsville tournament

The 5th and 6th grade boys softball team from Shiner St. Ludmila won their second tournament of the season at Hallettsville on April 15.

St. Paul softball: Lady Cards finish season series with SH

The St. Paul Lady Cardinals started their season series on April 5 in Shiner. That game reached middle of the sixth inning before being suspended due to weather. The bottom of the sixth inning was played on Thursday in Hallettsville before the scheduled St. Paul at Hallettsville.
