Eliminated from playoff contention in the loss at Sacred Heart Feb. 3, St. Paul boys wanted to give a good sendoff to the eight seniors. That did not occur as St. Paul fell to Pflugerville Concordia 53-43 Feb. 7 at home in a postponed game.

The Lady Cardinals had a little mixture of okay and not so okay in their last regular-season game. St. Paul defeated Pflugerville Concordia 46-25 Feb. 7 in a rescheduled game to conclude the regular season. “It’s kinda how we are,” Lady Cardinals head coach Jake Wachsmuth said.

Shiner football: Comanches win spots on TSWA Blue Bell 2A All-State 2022 team

Shiner senior defensive back/running back and Texas A&M committ Dalton Brooks won Co-Defensive Player of the Year for the Blue Bell/Texas Sports Writers Association Class 2A All-State Team. Brooks had 120 tackles and five interceptions for the Comanches who went 11-3.

St. Paul boys basketball: St. Paul taken down by Indians 57-39

Trent Brown netted 12 points and two triples, and Joseph Twyford recorded 11 points and one tres as the Cards fell to Sacred Heart 57-39 Friday in Hallettsville. The Indians took control in the first frame with a 17-4 run and outscored St. Paul 14-13 in the second period.

St. Paul girls basketball: Sacred Heart drops Lady Cards 62-30

Brooke Cerny scored eight points in St.. Paul’s 62-30 loss at Sacred Heart last Friday and Dallyn Pesek added six points and a triple. Sacred Heart led 13-6 after one quarter and took a 24-12 lead into halftime.

The Shiner Lady Comanches christened the final home match of seniors Haley Patek, Alyson Mraz and Megan Winkenwerder with a 53-33 win over Schulenburg on Friday to improve to 11-0.

Shiner boys basketball: Shiner defeats Shorhorns 58-48

Shiner had a good first quarter in its 58-48 win over Schulenburg on Friday. The Comanches took a 16-8 lead in the first frame and each team scored a dozen points in the second quarter for 28-20 Comanche lead.

Shiner baseball: Alumni game will be Feb. 18

The Shiner Alumni baseball will be held on 2 p.m. Feb. 18 at Green-Dickson Park. Warmups start at 1 and the pre-game introduction of the alumni will be at 1:45.
