City extends moratorium on manufactured homes

The City Council voted to extend a temporary moratorium on the placement of manufactured homes within city limits for another 90 days at the Sept. 9 meeting. This gives City staff more time to evaluate zoning regulations and minimum housing standards.

City Council discusses motorized scooters on city streets

The Yoakum City Council discussed unlicensed motorized scooters and vehicles on city-maintained streets and sidewalks at the Aug. 12 meeting.Council member Michael Brandt expressed his concern about this matter.“I’ve had my eye on this for about six months or maybe more,” Brandt said.

Moratorium remains in place for manufactured homes

The city has issued a temporary moratorium on the placement of manufactured homes while Yoakum city officials revisit zoning regulations and consider long-term guidelines for their future use.“We had a couple of locations that people made complaints about,” City Mayor Carl O’ Neill said.

YEDC provides website update

One year into his tenure as city manager, Michael Mitchell is beginning to leave his mark on Yoakum’s government and community.“The number one thing that has stood out to me in this position is the community,” Mitchell said. “This is an unbelievably tight community with fantastic people.
