City extends moratorium on manufactured homes

The City Council voted to extend a temporary moratorium on the placement of manufactured homes within city limits for another 90 days at the Sept. 9 meeting. This gives City staff more time to evaluate zoning regulations and minimum housing standards.

City Council discusses motorized scooters on city streets

Moratorium remains in place for manufactured homes

The city has issued a temporary moratorium on the placement of manufactured homes while Yoakum city officials revisit zoning regulations and consider long-term guidelines for their future use.“We had a couple of locations that people made complaints about,” City Mayor Carl O’ Neill said.

YEDC provides website update

City Council awards contract

The Yoakum City Council awarded a contract for the 2025 Street Improvement Project at the July 8 meeting.“The street improvement project is a yearly project that we do, and we have not done it yet because of staff,” Director of Public Works Victor Gomez said. “We just upgrade and maintain the roads.

Yoakum City Council provides updates, institutes ordinance

The Yoakum City Council gave an update on the Carl and Mary Welhausen Library Kick-Off event that happened recently at the June 10 meeting.“The Library Summer Reading Program got kicked off with the Bike Rodeo,” City Manager Michael Mitchell said. “They had an awesome turnout for that.
