Yoakum golf: Bulldogs compete at Cuero Tournament

Yoakum golfers took part in the Cuero Tournament last week. Girls Kylie Saenz carded a 124; Lucy Watters had a 126; Brynlee McCoy carded a 129; Kyleigh Powell had a 130 and Gracyn Wolf booked a 131. The Lady ‘Dogs had a 509 team score. Boys Eli Cook scored a 107 and Luke Helweg recorded a 122.  

Yoakum track and field: varsity teams finish second at Tom Tom Relays.

The Yoakum track teams competed at home on Thursday at the Tom Tom Relays. Varsity Girls The Lady ‘Dogs got second with 112 points. 400 — 1st, Amori Harper, 1:03.55. 800 — 4th, Samantha Adamek, 2:37.49; 6th, Cameron Williams, 2:38.92. 1600 — 4th, Gisela Martinez, 5:57.84.

Yoakum softball: Lady 'Dogs loses district opener, plays four in Brenham Tournament

The Yoakum softball team lost a close district opener to Edna and won one game out of four at the Brenham Tournament. Edna 5, Yoakum 4 The Edna Cowgirls scored a walk-off run in the eighth inning to edge Yoakum 5-4 in the district opener for the Lady Bulldogs on Feb. 28.

Yoakum golf: Golf competes at home tournament

The Yoakum Bulldogs golf teams played in the Yoakum Tournament on  last week. Girls Yoakum Blue placed third (487) and Yoakum White took fourth place (496). For Yoakum Blue, Kylie Saenz carded 114 for eighth place; Brynlee McCoy scored 121 to tie for No. 13. Hanna Garvin tied for No.

Yoakum baseball: Bulldogs win one at home tournament

The Yoakum baseball team beat Marion and went 1-3 in the Yoakum Tournament last week. Yoakum 7, Marion 2 The Yoakum Bulldogs scored five runs in the top of the fifth to rally from 2-0 down at Marion on Feb. 27 to win 7-2. The ‘Dogs added two runs in the top of the seventh to seal the win.

Yoakum track and field: Yoakum teams compete in Lockhart, Edna to open season

The Yoakum track and field teams competed in Lockhart and Edna to open the season Lockhart Relays (Feb. 16) Varsity Girls 100 — 1st, Jayana Phillips 13.84; 4th, Jayla Hessler, 14.42. 200 — 2nd, Phillips, 28.23; 3rd, Aubrie Jendrzey, 28.45; 4th, Hessler, 29.60. 400 — 1st, Jendrzey, 1:06.26.

Yoakum softball: Lady Dogs get three wins week of Feb. 27

The Yoakum softball team defeated La Grange and won two of six games in the Ganado Tournament last week. Yoakum 9, La Grange 3 The Lady Bulldogs plated six runs in the top of the seventh to break a 3-3 tie and defeat La Grange 9-3 Feb. 21 on the road.

Yoakum baseball: Bulldogs win two in Cuero Tournament last week

The Yoakum Bulldogs went 2-2 in the Cuero Tournament last Thursday through Saturday. Gonzales 10, Yoakum 5 The Gonzales Apaches opened the game with four runs and went on to defeat Yoakum 10-5 on Thursday.

Yoakum baseball: Bulldogs fall in opener to Cuero

Clinging to a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the third, the Cuero Gobblers scored two runs and then plated a run in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to deal Yoakum a 7-1 defeat Monday in Cuero.

Yoakum girls soccer: Lady 'Dogs get first district win

The Yoakum Lady Bulldogs soccer team picked up their first district win of the season with a 4-0 win over San Antonio Fox Tech Friday in Yoakum. Rubi Martinez netted two goals, Gisela Martinez added one goal and Yoakum got some help from Fox Tech when the Lady Buffaloes had an own goal.
