Indians snap mini losing streak

Sacred Heart defeated Bryan Brazos Christian, 12-8,in a non-district shoot-out at The Hardball Field Thursday afternoon.

Two four-run innings did in the Eagles as the Indians improved to 8-6 on the season. The win snapped a two game losing streak.

Matt Roznovsky had a big game for the Indians. The senior second baseman drove in four runs with a pair of doubles and scored two runs.

Indian starter Tyler Hawkins (3-2) lasted five and twothirds innings to get the win and Garrett Matura earned his fourth save on the season.

Hawkins gave up five runs (one unearned), six hits, walked three and struck out seven.

The game started rather quietly with the Eagles scoring first on a single by Chris Goodek.

Brazos Christian (10-9) upped the score to 3-0 with a two-run third inning. Runs scored on an error and infield out.

The Indians took a 4-3 in the home half of the third. With one out, Matura reached on an error, Michael Koeth was hit by the pitch and Hawkins walked to load the bases. Trey Daniels was nicked by the pitch to score Matura. Koeth scored on a wild pitch and Cade Steffek was hit by the pitch to force in Hawkins with the final run.

The Eagles tied the score at four-all in the top of the fourth before the Indian took the lead good with two runs in the fourth inning.

Daniels stroked a RBI single and Hawkins came across on an errant pitch. Two more runs dented the plate in the fifth inning on a run-scoring double by Roznovsky and a wild pitch.

After the Eagles whittled the margin to 8-7, the Indians rallied for four runs in the sixth inning to get some breathing room.

Cole Bujnoch singled for one run and Roznovsky drove in three runs with a double before scoring on a wild pitch..
